Printable tape and label cartridges for industrial marking

Printable tape is the cartridge an industrial label printer puts its text onto. Unlike paper labels, the material is chosen for the environment the label has to survive in for years. Vinyl stretches to follow curved surfaces such as cables and pipes, nylon fabric stays readable on rough and textured surfaces, and photoluminescent material glows in dark spaces for escape route marking.

Two things decide the choice. First the printer, because each cartridge fits one fixed series and nothing else, so check compatibility before ordering. Second the tape width, which fixes the height of the label. Narrow tapes from 9.53 mm are meant for wire marking and terminal strips, widths around 19 mm and up for equipment and pipe identification, and the widest sizes for signs and warning marking.

Watch the colour combination as well. Black on white reads fastest and is the standard for technical identification, yellow is used for warning and for live parts. BRADY supplies this range. Other supplies for labelling and marking sit one level up under accessories marking.
